HISTORY OF THE LIBRARY

The La Carlota City College was established in the year 1966 under the authority of R.A. 4588 known the “The Charter of the City of La Carlota.”

The City College was started its operation without a library of its own. It only had 193 collections of books. To meet the needs of its student, the City College shared the library of the La Carlota High School. Miss Glafera Jerezo was appointed as the first librarian for the College. From 1967 to 1974 total collection of books accumulated was 1,161 volumes.

It was during the stint of Dr. Amelia I Valera who was then appointed as Dean of Instruction when the City College started its own library.

Through the efforts of Dr. Amelia I. Valera, Congressman Edward Matti donated a building purposely for a library of the City College. The building was inaugurated in June 16, 1997 and now called the Jose Rizal Center Building. From a mere 193 books the library has now 8,000 volumes under Mr. Elven Jude C. Cabalinan as the librarian.
