It was established by Republic Act No. 11440 and signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte on August 28, 2019. ‎ ‎This celebration highlights the importance of campus journalism in defending press freedom, promoting truth, and empowering student voices for a more informed campus community. It also recognizes the role of student journalists as catalysts of truth for issues that are often overlooked but need to be told. ‎ ‎Today, we honor the courage of the Staffers as they amplify voices and share narratives that matter within and outside the campus community.
